Please note, this position is based in Dalhart, TX.

Plans, assesses, direct and participates in the delivery of obstetrics nursing care.
Participates in setting standards for patient care and nursing practice in obstetrics nursing.
Determines the number and level of personnel needed to provide quality patient care.
Manages the care of patients on external or internal fetal monitors, records and evaluates fetal heart rates, and uterine contractions.
Manages the obstetrical patient during preoperative, intraoperative, and post op periods.
Manages obstetrical medical conditions including preeclampsia, eclampsia, gestational diabetes, pre-term labor, premature rupture of amniotic membranes, placenta previa, abuptio placenta, repeat or scheduled cesarean section, or the induction or augmentation of labor.
Performs non-stress tests, oxytocin challenge tests, and breast stimulation for contraction stress tests in compliance with established policy and procedure.
Cares for patient post operatively including statement of surgical procedure, IV care, incision care, maintenance of fluid and electrolyte balance, prevention of post-op complications, sign and symptoms of complications and reports problems to physician in a timely manner.
Cares for the patient with medical diagnosis by static pathophysiology for specific diagnosis, documenting nursing interventions for diagnosis on files, stating signs and symptoms of complications for diagnosis and with occurrence reports these to the physician in a timely manner.
Cares for post-partum patient including IV care, episiotomy care, vital sign assessment, uterine fundus massage, maintenance of fluid and electrolytes balance, prevention of post-partum complications, and signs and symptoms of complications to be reported to the physician.
Provides psychosocial care to the patient and family to include assessment of needs. Provides nursing interventions with documentation on care plan in the chart.
Is able to educate new mothers on breastfeeding and will attend breastfeeding education provided by the hospital district.

Determines the number and level of personnel needed to provide quality patient care.
Manages neonatal patients from time of delivery until discharge of care.
Manages emergent neonatal conditions not limited to, but including hypoglycemia, hyperbilirubinemia, transient tachypnea of neonate,
IV/IO insertion, hypothermia, Oxygen delivery or PPV, stabilization and resuscitation.
Documents neonatal care appropriately and plan of care is documented in chart.
Communicates any concerns or complications with Provider in a timely manner.
